Porsches Descend on Ohio

What happens when over 400 Porsches invade a small town in Ohio? Porsches 2 Oxford! July 26, drivers from as far away as California descended on the small college town of Oxford for what is becoming a legendary event in Porsche circles.

As the exclusive Car Care sponsor for the event, Griot's Garage answered questions in a pair of how-to seminars, provided detailed demonstrations on customers' cars, and still found time to enjoy the incredible collection of fantastic Porsche vehicles. Even an ultra-rare (in the U.S.) Porsche tractor showed up to partake in the festivities!

Griot's Garage was proud to sponsor the Preservation Award, and it was a tough year to pick our favorite. Mac McGregor and his 1984 911 Targa stood out from the crowd, not only for the superior finish of the car but also for its story. Mac's is a single owner car that has been lovingly cared for over the years. The 911 was a perfect example of dedication to preserving an amazing car and a testament to "Having Fun In Your Garage!"

At the end of the day, the winners' parade started in front of our booth and we enjoyed seeing the storied history of Porsche line up right before our eyes! From casual to competition, unique to over-the-top, Porsches 2 Oxford has it all.

Fiats, Ferraris, Everything Italian

September 6, the Italian Concous d'Elegance was held again at the picturesque Des Moines, Washington Marina. The sky threatened rain, but that did not deter some of the most beautiful examples of Italian engineering from making their way to the show.

Fiats and Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Lancias... it was a day for diverse and unique automobiles to rub elbows on the waterfront. A 280mph Ferrari, fresh from the salt flats in Bonneville was here. As was a contingent of more "civilized" touring cars such as the 599 and Quadroporte. Italian motorcycles also made a good showing, with fine examples from many of the famous Italian bike manufacturers.

The winner of the Griot's Garage Preservation Award was a great little 1959 Fiat Millecento, owned by Richard Judy. Read more about this great car in our From the Podium section.

As in years past, the show had a lot going on... this year's event again featured the opera session, vendor village and raffle benefiting the Make a Wish foundation. The gates saw a steady stream of enthusiasts all day long. Be among them next year and enjoy some of the Northwest's finest Italian machinery.

Griot's Garage 2nd M-Day

August 24th, over 120 BMW "M-Cars" met up at Griot's Garage corporate headquarters for our 2nd annual M-Day. Conceived with the help of local enthusiast and BMW club member Lance Richert, the event celebrates all years and types of M-Cars. Cars were displayed by E chassis type so like-minded owners could compare notes on modifications and common maintenance issues.

Throughout the day, our Car Care Specialists performed product demonstrations on all types of M-cars. Free sample products were provided to every registered owner, and a huge assortment of raffle prizes were given out before day's end. Dealership BMW Northwest also sponsored a special "M-Trivia Challenge", testing owners' car knowledge for the opportunity to win select apparel and accessories.

In the spirit of Bavarian cuisine, owners and guest were even treated to a complimentary lunch of brats and potato salad! BMW club volunteers and several Griot's Garage associates BBQ'd and served up over 200 meals in all. Be sure to keep your eye out for our 2009 M-Day and come down to join the fun... the show is open to everyone!

June 14th, Griot's Garage was invited to attend Eastside Harley Davidson's Bike Show in Bellevue, Washington. The folks at EHD put on an awesome show with excellent prizes, complimentary lunch and beer, and some of the wildest cruisers and customs in the region.

Griot's Garage Specialists provided first-hand product demonstrations throughout the day. We love being involved in the bike scene, and enjoyed showing attendees how well our products perform. Our unique 3" Machine Polish and Wax System is perfect for motorcycles, and was put to the test on demonstration bikes supplied by EHD, as well as on customers' rides. The response was positive on all fronts!

Hot August Nights

Dubbed as a celebration of America's love affair with cars and rock-n-roll, the Hot August nights event in Reno/Sparks, Nevada has become a desert oasis of hot rodding. The immensity of the gathering is truly amazing... over 800,000 people flock here for free concerts, special events, and to see over 5500 of the coolest antiques, rods, and muscle machines in the country.

At the same time as Hot August Nights, the city also hosts the Silver Auction, the organization's flagship event for collector car enthusiasts. The Griot's Garage event booth was a stopping-off point for many of the auction cars, providing some last-minute detailing that no doubt helped them sparkle brighter under the auction block lights.

Griot's Garage was proud to join fellow fanatics in Reno this year. We enjoyed talking to the customers who've been "having fun" with our products for years, as well as converting some new Car Care Perfectionists with product demonstrations and Q+A sessions. Hot August Nights is a first-class event, and should be on every hot rodder's short list!

Goodguys Pleasanton

Long considered THE hot rod event west of the Mississippi, the Goodguys West Coast Nationals didn't fail to live up to its reputation. On this weekend, it wasn't Mother Nature that caused the tiny town of Pleasanton, California to rumble... but the hundreds of thousands of horsepower that had converged on the local Fairgrounds.

The show, now a 21-year tradition in Pleasanton, drew over 3500 cars and trucks. It also featured a cool swap meet with over 1200 vendors, and a Cars 4 Sale Corral with over 500 vehicles up for grabs. The event was also staged presentations of several major awards, including the 2007 America's Most Beautiful Street Rod Award.

As is becoming a tradition, the Griot's Garage team took its place near the Fairgrounds center clock tower, and was buzzing with the activity of new customers, Car Care Perfectionists, and folks who just wanted a closer look at the amazing demo cars that rotated through our spot. Standout vehicles were a continuation version 1965 427 Cobra and a 1974 Ferrari Dino.

Goodguys Pacific NW Nats

Griot's Garage was proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Goodguys 20th Pacific Northwest Nationals in Puyallup, Washington. The largest street rod event in the Northwest did not disappoint, attracting over 2,000 of the region's best rods, customs, and classics for three days of racing, special attractions, and show 'n shine fun.

The Puyallup Fairgrounds is the perfect venue for a trip down memory lane, with old roller coasters and hamburger stands providing a nostalgic backdrop. The Griot's Garage booth was a hub of activity all weekend, with enthusiasts stopping to admire several amazing cars and take in demonstrations by our Car Care technicians.

Corvettes Converge on Plainfield

The Griot's Garage Distribution Center in Plainfield, Indiana recently welcomed the National Corvette Museum's Historic Motorama II. 55 Corvettes, one from each production year of the iconic American machine, made up the caravan that started in Bowling Green, Kentucky (en route to Detroit).

An overwhelming turnout of enthusiasts were treated to a barbecue lunch and free Car Care seminars. Thanks to UPS, Andy Mohr Chevrolet, and everyone that took the time to be a part of the festivities. Here's what one participant had to say about this great event:

We just wanted to write to let you know how much we appreciated coming to the facility in Indiana for our Motorama II trip. We had a great time and learned a lot - the demo on how to clean the outside of our car was great. Looking forwad to trying out the products that we purchased while visiting, they were delivered as promised. A special thanks for supplying us with lunch, that was nice and what a great facility. Everything was top notch.

Richard's Garage Tour

Griot's Garage hosted its first ever private "Garage Tour" of Richard Griot's home garage in May of this year. The exclusive group was limited to 50 attendees, who met at the Griot's Garage store in Tacoma, then shuttled to Richard's home for a morning of fun. The discussions revolved around setting up your garage space... flooring, lighting, cabinets, and car care areas. Product demonstrations were conducted by Griot's Garage car care specialists, as well as Mr. Griot!

Vintage race cars were on display, including a Lola Can Am and McLaren F1. A restored BMW 2002 and Camaro RS sat in the driveway, and a 1996 Porsche 4S was available for customers to experience the Griot's Garage Random Orbital. The current project car on display was a Mustang GT about to receive a super charger. An editor from Road & Track magazine was present and brought his fleet car, a brand new BMW M3, for all to enjoy.

Richard also opened his home so that attendees could see his use of Griot's Garage storage cabinets in the kitchen (the vintage motorcycle parked in the living room was a hit as well). Lunch was served to the group and each attendee received a custom "Garage Tour 2008" event hat.

The group returned to the retail store for some shopping and more demonstrations in the Car Care School. A great time was had by all, and we thank everyone who attended this special event.

Indianapolis Tech Session

On April 26, for the fourth year, Griot's Garage opened the doors of our Plainfield, IN Distribution Center in what has become an annual "Rite of Spring Cleaning".

Long before the 10:00am start of the event, the parking lot was already beginning to fill with Porsches, Corvettes, Ferraris, Minis, and more... It was clear this day would be "one for the books", with hundreds of rabid Griot's Garage fans and car care perfectionists descending from Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, and Michigan.

It was all hands on deck as the doors rolled open, and Griot's Garage car care specialists began conducting demonstrations of our professional 6" and 3" orbital machines. Customers enjoyed interacting with our staff, asking questions, and getting some hands-on experience with our line of amazing car care products. Displays featuring new products and kits gave attendees an inside peek at the latest Griot's Garage offerings.

Our sincerest thanks to all those who attended the Tech Session. We enjoy meeting our customers and hearing how they're having fun in the garage! Plans are already underway for next year's event... you won't want to miss it.

Palm Beach Cavallino Classic

Griot's Garage was once again invited to be the exclusive Car Care sponsor for the 17th annual Cavallino Classic, which took place in Palm Beach Florida last January.

The event included four days of racing at Moroso Motorsports Park with both vintage contemporary Ferrari and Maserati automobiles making showings. An additional event this year was the Classic Sports Sunday that featured modern era sports and racecars. The concours took place on the grounds of the beautiful Breakers Resort. There was a private jet party, where Ferraris parked around numerous spectacular private aircraft, including a rare P51 Mustang. A night spent touring phenomenal yachts, along with a brunch at Donald Trump's Mar-a-lago home added to the first-class festivities.

Several Griot's Garage Car Care technicians were on hand throughout the event, answering owners' questions and providing demonstrations of our Machine Orbital System. One very kind customer loaned us his 360 Modena for four days to use as a demonstration vehicle. Thank you Gary, for your support and trust in our Car Care line!

The winner of the Griot's Garage Preservation Cup at the Cavallino Concours was a spectacular 1986 Ferrari Testarossa. Jim Ippoliti, who brought the car from his home in Florida, has meticulously cared for this black beauty. Congratulations Jim on your achievement and thank you for sharing your awesome Ferrari with us all.
