Sunday May 3rd, Griot's Garage played host to the 7th Annual SVT Rendezvous all-Ford show. Event organizer Bill Smallwood III, a collector car insurance specialist, brought the show to Griot's Garage for the first time.
The threat of rain certainly didn't scare these hardcore blue-oval enthusiasts away, as more than 100 cars showed up for this special event! Although primarily early and late model Mustangs, the show attracted everything from new Ford GT's to a late 1920's Ford dump truck. In the end the weather held out, and attendees enjoyed great food and tons of cool automotive eye-candy.
Griot's Garage would like to thank everyone who attended the SVT Rendezvous this year and helped make it a success!
20th Annual Mild to Wild Show
April 24th - 26th, hundreds of hot rides converged on the Tacoma Dome for the 20th Annual Mild to Wild show. For the second year in a row, Griot's Garage was honored to be the show's Official Car Care Sponsor. Attendees were treated to a very cool and diverse lineup of cars, ranging from hot rod, to muscle car, to street machine, and everything in between.
We were fortunate to have two stand-out automobiles as our booth demonstration cars. IllTech Auto Salon provided us with a '94 Toyota Supra (also the only Japanese car at the show). This highly modified tuner puts 890hp to the rear wheels on pump gas, and has been recognized in magazines and import shows across the country. Our other booth car was an outstanding 1972 Camaro SS provided by one of our local customers.
Thanks to Shawn McManus and our friends at IllTech for sharing some of their great photos. See even more on their flickr page!
Another Great Indy Tech Session
Friday, April 24th saw the first day of the two day Spring Indy Tech session for 2009. With distinct "cruise-in" feel, the hot dogs were grilling, the soda was on ice and the cars were amazing! All types of vehicles and clubs were in attendance, including the 'Z' club of Indianapolis, the local BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Subaru, and Scion clubs, plus a great contingent of loyal and enthusiastic customers. Richard Griot even made a surprise appearance and got down-and-dirty with the polisher, helping a long time customer clear the fog from his Mercedes' headlights!
Saturday saw everything from Fords to Ferraris. Richard kicked off the festivities with a brief talk about the company and then it was off to the races. Demo cars flew in and out of the building, the smell of Spray-On Car Wash hung heavy in the air and the customers seemed to just keep coming! Hot dogs, hamburgers and chips made a nice break for everyone attending and the grills were kept red hot almost all day long!
Many thanks to everyone who came out for the event, some from as far away as Chicago and beyond! We certainly took the time both days to have fun in our garage, and hope you did, too!
A special thanks go out to Andy Mohr Chevrolet and our friends at UPS, who brought out their awesome hot-rod delivery truck for the day. Thanks for your support, guys!
Bowtie Clubs Pay a Visit
On Saturday, March 28, Oregon's Mt. Hood Corvette Club made a trip to our Car Care School, in spite of heavy rain and (and even snow), on their drive. Joined by local Chevy Silverado SS and Impala SS clubs, event attendees were treated to first-hand product demonstrations on everything from interior care to paint scratch and swirl removal. As an added bonus, Cody Johnson, from IllTech Auto, brought down a new Corvette ZR1 for everyone to lust after.
A big "thank you" to all the club members who didn't let mother nature stop them from bringing out their special rides and having some fun in our garage!
2nd Annual BMW Garage Tour
On Saturday, March 14th, the Griot's Garage Retail Store hosted its second annual Garage Tour event for the Puget Sound BMW Club. This year, the Northwest Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini Clubs also came out to join in the fun! Carpools were organized to Richard Griots' personal home garage, and throughout the day members were given a garage design presentation given by Richard himself. Upon returning from the ultimate "Griot's Garage", members were treated to a barbecue lunch and car care demonstrations provided by the local Griot's Garage staff.
Beautiful cars, great food, and an inside peek at a one-of-a-kind garage... what more could a car guy ask for? Thanks to the visiting clubs for bringing out your special rides. We'll see you again next year!
Having Fun in Richard's Garage
On January 24th, over 100 car and garage crazy enthusiasts gathered at our Tacoma retail store for an exclusive event, coordinated between Richard Griot and several local car clubs.
Attendees first carpooled to Richard's own home garage for a private tour. Richard provided a special presentation that gave our customers creative design ideas for their own garages. Lighting, flooring, cabinetry... he covered every detail about creating one's own ultimate "Griot's Garage", no matter its size or shape. In addition to getting great garage design tips, club members also got to see some of Richard's own vehicles, and one of his in-progress project cars. After the tour, attendees returned to the retail store for car care demonstrations and a great barbecue lunch. On this day, everyone had fun in Richard's garage!
Thanks to the attending clubs for your enthusiasm and support: Northwest Chevy Club, Baloney Car Club, Old Rides Car Club, Maple Valley Street Rats, Corvettes de Olympia, and Classical Glass Corvette Club!
