May Caffeine & Gasoline®

The May, 2012 edition of Caffeine & Gasoline® brought an exciting automotive debut to the Flagship Store and Car Care School. Subaru of America and Subaru of Tacoma collaborated to put on display the brand new, 2013 Subaru BRZ. With a 2.0 liter boxer engine making 200hp, and a center of gravity lower than a Ferrari 458 Italia, these cars created quite a buzz, and a great crowd showed up to see the machine in person. Greg's Japanese auto was also on-hand, broadcasting their weekly radio show live! Technicians answered a variety of maintenance and service related questions... an added bonus for attendees.

Caffeine & Gasoline® is a must-attend monthly event for car fanatics. All types of vehicles are welcome to this informal cruise-in at the Griot's Garage Flagship Retail Store. Free coffee and donuts are served, and special guests, race car fire-ups, and other attractions are common!

Porsche Club Tech Session

Saturday, April 28 over 60 members of the Pacific Northwest Porsche Club of America (PNPCA) converged on the Flagship Store and Events Center for a cruise-in and group tech session. Longtime friend of Griot's Garage, Bill Rogers, helped coordinate this annual gathering which brought together both new and veteran members of the PCA alike. Attendees were treated to light snacks and refreshments, then educated on our newest products, from Premium Carnauba Paste Wax to Glass Sealant. The Porsche Club of America has been very supportive of Griot's Garage through the years, and we were pleased to host for them a memorable event.

DeLorean Tech Session

A dozen DeLorean DMC-12's in one place? Great Scott! It happened April 28th when the Pacific Northwest DeLorean Club gathered at the Flagship Store and Events Center. Many of the cars included tributes to the movie that made them famous, "Back to the Future." From clever license plates, to futuristic lighting, to a flux capacitor replic... Marty McFly and Doc Brown would've been proud. While we didn't attempt to harness the power of lightning for time travel, we did conduct an excellent group tech session that was enjoyed by all. Most popular product of the day? Metal Polish.

Friday Night Cruise-In #1

Friday, April 13th kicked off a new tradition at Griot's Garage in Tacoma... Friday Night Cruise-Ins! Auto enthusiast and long-time friend of the company, Walt Kaplin, want to bring back that nostalgic feeling with 50's and 60's music, classic automotive movies inside the Indy Cafe, and other activities and recognitions throughout the cruising season. The first edition of the Cruise-In was a smashing success, with great cars filling up the show lawn and parking lot. Most everything was represented, from muscle cars, to traditional hot rods and customs, to modern sports cars. It's safe to say a great time was had by all!

March Caffeine & Gasoline®

For the March edition of Caffeine & Gasoline®, attendees were treated to a first look at the new Porsche 911. Barrier Porsche of Bellevue, Washington brought several of these stunning machines. 90% of the car's components are either new or have been fundamentally revised. The car sports a longer wheelbase and refined engine, but maintains the classic Porsche recipe... Tradition, innovation, performance, and everyday driveability. In addition to the new 911, German auto fans also saw a number of rare Porsches in the Griot's Garage Auto Display Area, both street and race machines.

February Caffeine & Gasoline®

Caffeine & Gasoline® continued its first-Saturday-of-the-month tradition in February, where a unique and historic F1 car was brought front and center for attendees to admire. This 1975 Shadow DN5 F1 debuted at the 1973 South African Grand Prix. The vehicle (and most Shadow F1 cars utilized Ford Cosworth DFV engines, which produced around 490bhp. The car was fired up for a large crowd of enthusiasts, who had cruised in to Griot's Garage in Tacoma for a fun morning (and, of course, free coffee and donuts).
