| Griot's Garage Cover Car Handbook 283: 2007 Porsche GT3 RS |
![]() The 911 GT3 RS was introduced by Porsche in 2003. The RS (Rennsport, or "Motorsport") is ligther than the standard GT3, owing to a polycarbonate rear window and a carbon fiber hood and wing. The horizontally-opposed 6 cylinder, 3.6 liter engine features overhead cams with 4 valves per cylinder, varioCam valve timing, and titanium connecting rods. The mill cranks out 415 horses, rocketing the RS to 60 mph in about 4 seconds, and enabling top speeds close to 200 mph (all with an estimated 24 mpg on the highway)! This particular car was Porsche North America's press vehicle and was probably driven by more people than any other GT3RS in the world. If you saw a green RS in an industry magazine or website, chances are this was the one. The inside trunk is signed by legendary Porsche race-car driver Hurley Haywood. He often presented and drove this car on tracks and at press events to show its performance potential. Thanks to our customer for sharing this awesome ride! |
