Director of Marketing (Tacoma, WA)

Overview:
We are looking for an experienced marketer who understands how to define and execute marketing strategies with a competitive edge (CPG experience a big plus,) while also understands the nature of direct-to-consumer retail marketing in order to drive growth in our digital/catalog direct retail business. This person has experience managing multiple cross-functional teams and can weigh priorities/demands in order to ensure focus on most profitable areas of our business. We are searching for a person who has worked for a direct-to-consumer retail company with traditional CPG and brand management experience.

Background:
Griot's Garage serves the automotive enthusiast market by developing the highest quality car care chemicals and accessories, as well as tools and accessories for the garage. The company has its roots in developing and designing a catalog of unique merchandise catering to car nuts. Today, the company manufactures and designs its own products which are sold through our direct business (retail store, catalog, and website) as well as through auto chains and distributors across the world. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
We are looking for a marketing director to passionately drive our company's marketing efforts, including the planning, development, and implementation of marketing strategies serving multiple market segments across various channels of distribution. This person will be responsible for brand management, product development, marketing communication, and promotional strategies. He/she will define which market segments to focus on from a product development perspective and direct product developers in the execution of product strategy. Also directs the efforts of the creative, marketing, digital, and catalog staff to drive growth in both direct retail, digital and wholesale business units.

Specific Job Functions:

  • Defines annual marketing plan to support all market segments including support of our products at retail auto chains as well as in support of our direct business comprised of web and catalog customers.
  • Sets marketing, promotional, and staffing budgets in support of the marketing objectives.
  • Oversees development of all branding and collateral materials to ensure accuracy of messaging across the various market segments.
  • Defines the strategy for and directs the staff for all digital efforts in our web/email based retail segment.
  • Defines our direct mail /catalog strategy to drive continued growth in our 25 year catalog business.
  • Directs the creative team in the creation of all assets in support of the marketing objectives.
  • Directs the product development team in the defining and the execution of product strategies to serve various market segments.

Experience Desired:
Minimum 10-15 years of marketing experience; Experience in direct retail type business with catalog and digital experience. Experience in product development for a CPG company. Experience in the automotive surface care industry, or in the automotive aftermarket, working with both retail and wholesale channels, a big plus.

Forecast Analyst (Tacoma, WA)

Fast growing, Premium Car Care brand is looking for a Forecast Analyst to join their team. The Forecast Analyst will come from a retail/consumer products background and have a strong understanding of the CPG industry, as well as experience with forecast analysis and maintenance. The Forecast Analyst role will also be heavily Excel based, and therefore expert Excel skills are required.

Essential Functions:

  • Using sales data, and marketing input to generate and analyze a sales forecast used to drive materials planning and supply chain.
  • Analysis of planning system data to recommend process improvements and to assist in the validation and implementation of application and process upgrades.
  • Design metrics and prepare reports to monitor forecast accurately and analyze all sales trends.
  • Provide ad hoc forecasts, sales and prepare archive reports as requested to assist management decisions.
  • Analyze monthly forecast in Griot's systems and safety stock in aggregate by both pieces and dollars.
  • Make adjustments to the forecast and safety stock in a timely manner using the most effective method.
  • Initiate further analysis and recommendations on forecast and safety stock anomalies and integrate market intelligence into the forecast.
  • Continuously look for ways to benchmark and improve processes through analysis of methods and models.
  • Measure forecast accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to quarterly consensus meetings with Marketing and Operations.
  • Assist to prepare inventory reduction initiatives for assigned product lines and rationalization process for product lines.

  • Strong system skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel to be able to create complex spreadsheets and piece together data from various systems quickly.

  • Works very effectively in a cross-functional team environment, as team member or leader; proven team building skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Must have strong sense of urgency, high energy, and self-motivation; able to work independently.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience (business or Supply Chain preferred).

Experience Desired:

  • Minimum 3 years working in Forecasting and / or Operational Planning in a CPG manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience in the automotive surface care industry, working with both retail and non-retail channels, a big plus.
